Sophie Evanoff discovered her love for pastries as a young child. By high school, she knew she wanted a career in the pastry arts, not necessarily as a chef, but rather as a business owner. Sophie earned a degree in Psychology at the University of Michigan-Dearborn, but the kitchen continued to call to her. She landed a job as a pastry cook in her hometown of Detroit, and then enrolled in the French Pastry School of Chicago with a scholarship from the For the Love of Chocolate Foundation. Sophie worked a few more years in the field, rounding out her classical culinary education with stints in the production and R&D side of the confectionary business. At Vanille Patisserie, Sophie wants educate people about the art of French pastry. She is passionate about creating handcrafted pastries, using classical French techniques.
