A native of Texas, Rob Boyd grew up in the Lone Star State before moving to San Francisco to study media theory and criticism at San Francisco State University. While in school, Boyd began bartending and discovered his passion for mixology.
Chicago’s evolving bar scene drew Boyd to the Windy City where he joined 16 On Center’s Hyde Park restaurant, The Promontory, as lead bartender in 2015. His spirit-forward creations and focus on hospitality made him an excellent candidate as beverage director at Dusek’s Board & Beer, Punch House and Tack Room in Chicagos’s Pilsen neighborhood, where he joined the management team in 2017.
Inspired by seasonal produce and simple twists on classic cocktails, Boyd enjoys building refreshing libations that patrons find approachable and refined. On his days off, you can find him sipping on a Pina Colada or a simple beer & shot combination.
When Boyd isn’t behind the bar, he’s listening to podcasts and his extensive collection of Elvis Costello records, or riding his bike south towards Promontory Point.
