At the age of five Chef, Matt Smith cooked his first meal for his family and by the age of seventeen, all his jobs had been in and around restaurants. It was then that he enrolled at Washburne Trade School in the culinary program and his carrier was started. the next years were spent working under Chefs in Chicago, New York and even a bit of time in front of the house management. Shaped by his time working with famous the chefs Jean George Vongerichten and David Burke and opening Mastro’s Steakhouse he earned an excellent base in Modern French and Contemporary American cuisine, and further complemented by the experience in restaurants specializing in Italian, Thai, classic French Bistro and even a degree in Pastry Arts from the French Culinary Institute in New York. Chef Matt Brings all of this to Mastro’s Steakhouse we focus on the guests experience from the moment we say “Welcome” until we say “have a wonderful evening”. His intent is to make you happy because after all, it’s the least we can do to say Thank you for sharing your time and a meal with us.
