KathyRYN Morgan, MS
Before moving to New York in 2016, Kathryn Morgan began her wine career as a sommelier in Washington, DC. She has over 15 years of restaurant experience, having gained a diverse scope of talent in establishments such as Bryan Voltaggio’s RANGE, Michel Richard’s Citronelle, 2941, and Ristorante Tosca. Kathryn is also known for her expertise in many local and national publications, and enjoyed traveling as a frequent wine competition judge, teacher, and speaker at wine events worldwide.
In 2010, Kathryn passed the rigorous Master Sommelier examination, becoming the 106th person in North America to earn that distinction. The many opportunities that followed led her to discover her natural talent as an educator. She has been creating light-bulb moments ever since, and in October, 2016 she joined Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits of New York – the largest wholesaler in the United States – as Director of Wine Education.
Kathryn actively teaches with other organizations as well. She is an adjunct instructor for the sommelier program at New York’s International Culinary Center, and is involved in lectures and examinations for the Court of Master Sommeliers all over North America. One of her favorite roles in her community is as a mentor; regularly donating her spare time to assist others in their endeavors to pass wine exams and improve their skills.
She is enjoying the distribution side of the wine business, and has finally fulfilled her lifelong dream of living in the East Village.
