Chef Corey Grupe, originally from Libertyville, IL, began cooking at a very young age. His mother taught him techniques in the kitchen, while his father introduced him to the world of barbeque. At just 14 years old, Grupe began working at a local hot dog stand, which served as his entry into the restaurant industry, and since then he has never looked back. In 1998, Grupe attended Evanston's Kendall College and accepted an internship at Copper Creek Grill in Vernon Hills. There, he was quickly promoted to Sous Chef, and eventually became the Executive Chef. He then moved on to South Gate Cafe in Lake Forest, Convito Italiano in Wilmette and Claddagh Irish Pub in Geneva. An avid Cubs fan, Corey Grupe accepted a position with Sports Corner in Wrigleyville, followed by EatZis's, Cosi, Fox and Obel and Stoller Wholesale. He now serves as Executive Chef for O’Toole’s Pub Group (Chicago, Gurnee & Libertyville). His food style emphasizes local ingredients and clean flavors. Grupe loves teaching classes and working with people.
