Mauro Gomez

A native of Argentina, Chef Gomez began his training at the tender age of 12, working in the kitchen at his family's restaurant trained by his grandmother Angelica in traditional Spanish cuisine and Argentinean classics.

Upon his arrival to the United States, Chef Gomez started his career in Miami working as the Chef de Cuisine of Campo Argentino. After this first step in the states, he had the great opportunity to join the award-winning Palme d'Or (a 4 star Forbes Restaurant) at the Biltmore Hotel under the leadership of Phillipe Ruiz; here he learned everything about nouvelle cuisine and traditional French cuisine.

Looking for different challenges, he joined one of the largest and more luxurious properties in south Florida, The Westin Diplomat Resort & Spa in Hollywood Florida. He led the banquet culinary team in this 250,00sq ft meeting space at the resort. His continuous journey took him to Boston where he joined the Westin Copley as Chef de Cuisine at Turner Fisheries, one of the iconic seafood restaurants in Boston. Voted Boston's "Best Seafood Restaurant" by Boston's People's Choice Awards and as having the "Best Clam Chowder" by Boston Magazine.

Chef Gomez at age 28 joined the opening team at the W Atlanta Midtown as the Executive Chef of the property, here he worked along Jean-Georges' team to open Spice Market. This was the first concept outside of NYC before the big expansion.

Hungry for more adventures, Chef Gomez decided to embark in an adventure that took him first to the Indian Ocean, as the Executive Chef of the Luxurious W Maldives, later on to Central Vietnam to open 2 hotels as an Area Executive Chef for the luxury group Banyan Tree. At last, he became the Executive Chef of one of Starwood Flagship properties in the Middle-East, W Hotel in Doha; where he received several awards, just to mention a few: Best Business Hotel in the Middle East by Conde Nast Traveler, Best Restaurant in Doha by BBC Good Foods Dubai, Best Contemporary European at Market by Time Out, Best Brunch at Market by Time Out, Best South East Asian at Spice Market by Time Out & Highly Commented Italian at La Spiga

It was during this time spent working and traveling in Asia and the Middle-East where Chef Gomez developed his love for the exotic and aromatic flavors of the East and learned more about food and cooking techniques.
