A native of Plainfield, Kerney began working at restaurants as a busboy, quickly working his way into the kitchen. In Chicago, he got his start at Ambria, then spent two years at Schwa, and took a Sous and eventual Executive Chef position at the Hubbard Inn thereafter.
Kerney joined the Longman team in August of 2013, coming on as Executive Sous Chef and, summarily impressing us all, moved quickly to Chef de Cuisine thereafter. After an exceptional year in the Chef de Cuisine position, partner Jared Wentworth has now moved him to Executive Chef. Under Kerney’s stewardship, the restaurant received its fifth Michelin star, in the 2015 Michelin Chicago guide.
