John A. Terlato is Vice Chairman of Terlato Wine Group (TWG) and Terlato Wines. TWG is the parent company of multiple wineries and vineyards and partnerships in some of the world’s most esteemed wine regions, including: Napa Valley; Sonoma County; Santa Barbara County; Victoria, Australia; and the Rhône Valley. Terlato Wines is one of the leading luxury wine and spirits companies in the world, with a portfolio of nearly 70 brands and more 90+ ratings than any other wine company.
Mr. Terlato oversees the expansion of Terlato Wines’ international presence and the family’s winery and vineyard holdings in California. Terlato wines are currently available in 32 countries, and Mr. Terlato and his export team continue to expand the reach of these brands, with emphasis in Canada, the U.K., the Caribbean and several Asian markets including Hong Kong, China and Korea. Mr. Terlato travels frequently to introduce new audiences of trade and consumer influencers to key Terlato Wines brands.
Mr. Terlato also oversees the family’s winery and vineyard investments in California, including Rutherford Hill Winery and Chimney Rock Winery in Napa Valley, Sanford Winery in Santa Barbara County as well as the Terlato Family Vineyards brand. He has helped direct major environmental changes at the wineries, including conversion to 100 percent solar power and innovative vineyard management practices aimed at protecting the land while producing the highest quality fruit. He also sources potential new holdings for TWG, to enhance the Terlato portfolio of luxury wines with wines from and investments in the best appellations and producers in around the world.
A passionate wine and food enthusiast, Mr. Terlato is active in the Chicago chapter of The Commanderie de Bordeaux and The Renaissance Club. He also is a member of the Chicago chapter of the Young Presidents Organization, organizing events showcasing prominent business leaders from around the world. Mr. Terlato is a frequent speaker and host of wine dinners and tastings for influential audiences, from Chicago to Shanghai. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from Loyola University and a Juris Doctor from The John Marshall Law School, and is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School.
