Salatino’s is well-known around Chicago for its delicious, authentic Italian dishes, and now this Little Italy restaurant welcomes one of its native sons to the kitchen. The new Executive Chef, Joe Farina, is no stranger to the culinary scene or Italian cooking. The Chicago native has been in the business for more than 23 years, and while his restaurant experience runs the gamut, his expertise lies in traditional, expertly prepared Italian cuisine.
A family business sparked Chef Farina’s culinary interest and helped him gain his first expertise in the industry. He furthered his culinary education at Washburn University before beginning his career at restaurants including the famed Rosebud, where he worked for 12 years as the Corporate Chef. Chef Farina also spent five years as Owner and Executive Chef of Café Bionda on Chicago’s Near Southside and had a stint at former River North spot Ballo.
Chef Farina now brings his experience and expertise to Salatino’s, where he delights diners with exceptional and time-honored Italian dishes. His attention to detail and back-to-basics approaches honors some of Italy’s finest and freshest ingredients including tomatoes, butter, cheese, and of course, olive oil! Chef Farina’s inspiration stems largely from the flavors of Southern Italy and this is evident in his innovative and tempting dishes.
