NBC Chicago’s “Chicago Today”

Cortney Hall is the Emmy-nominated host of NBC Chicago’s lifestyle show ‘Chicago Today.’ She and her co-host enjoy taking viewers on a journey through the vibrant neighborhoods and suburbs of Chicago.  She is also the creator, executive producer and host of the Emmy-nominated “Open House Chicago,” a real estate show, renewed in its third season. 

Cortney is proud to serve as an adjunct lecturer at Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, where she earned her master’s degree.  She currently teaches a class on hosting and producing lifestyle content.  

Born and raised in Chicago, Cortney previously worked as an anchor for nearly a decade at WGN Morning News and CLTV. She was also the in-arena host for the Chicago Bulls for four seasons. Before making her way back home, Cortney was an anchor/reporter in Orlando. She started her broadcast career working as a producer at Bloomberg News in New York City. 

Cortney earned her Bachelor of Science degree from Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business in 2003.  And she learned the art of storytelling from her time at Medill. 

Cortney is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Economic Club of Chicago. She regularly volunteers her time emceeing for non-profit organizations. When she’s not in front of a camera, Cortney enjoys mentoring young journalists, biking the lakefront and exploring new restaurants with her wonderful husband.
