Chris Murphy is a Chicago-based restaurateur and co-owner of Junebug Cafe, a Portage Park neighborhood favorite known for its Louisiana-inspired, from-scratch cooking. A second-generation restaurant professional, Chris grew up in the industry, gaining early experience through his family’s longtime restaurant, Poor Phil’s in Oak Park.

In 2019, he and his wife and partner, Jacqueline Mancias, opened Junebug Cafe, blending the family’s French Creole traditions with a warm, community-driven approach to hospitality. At Junebug, Chris helps shape both the guest experience and the vision behind a menu rooted in Northern Louisiana cooking, featuring dishes like gumbo, hand pies, and fresh beignets.

Chris and his team have created a destination where guests come to celebrate Louisiana food culture with a touch of Chicago.
