Chef Tyler Nelson had a childhood revolved around food and family. An Italian and Swedish background with large family gatherings food is what brought everyone together. After a career playing soccer on through college, and various professional teams Tyler followed his passion for food and enrolled in culinary school at the college of dupage. While completing culinary school Tyler studied under some of the top chefs in chicagoland. In 2007 completed culinary internship under David Sapp at Timpano. He then furthered his knowledge working under chefs Jimmy Bannos, Geoff Rhyne, Keith Willis, and Nathan Enders.
In 2013 Tyler began working as Chef de Cuisine at Artisan Table under chef Sean Curry in Naperville Il, focusing on locally sourced product and sustainability. Tyler now took his craft to Viand Bar & Kitchen bringing a modern farm to fork flair to the restaurant. When not cooking Tyler enjoys spending time with his wife Kimberly and four children Isabella, Gabriel, Kelsey, and Grace.
