Chef Matt Goodman, originally from Carol Stream, IL, began his culinary career at Johnson & Wales University in Miami, Florida. He returned to Chicago in 2006 and worked his way up from line cook to sous chef at Stir Crazy and also played an instrumental role in helping the brand expand with new locations. In 2009, Chef Goodman moved to Philadelphia to be the Sous Chef at Azie, a Japanese restaurant offering contemporary, inventive Asian Fusion dishes. It was at Azie that he honed in on his culinary skills working with renowned Japanese Chef Takao Iinuma.
