Jason Hammel, along with his wife Amalea Tshilds, is the chef and owner of Chicago’s, Lula Café in Logan Square. Known for vibrant flavors and sustainable ingredients, the restaurant has been a magnet for both “foodies” and the Chicago cooking community for 16 years. Jason and Amalea have forged strong relationships with dozens of Midwestern farmers and artisanal producers over the years, as their commitment to ‘local” intensified. With almost no formal training, but an innate talent around highlighting Midwestern products, the husband and wife chef team have impressed both regional and national press.
