The Chicago Athletic Association Hotel is pleased to announce Christian Ragano as Executive Chef of Cindy’s. Ragano will oversee the culinary program for the restaurant located atop the thirteenth story of the hotel. A chef with a passion for and dedication to the culinary scene in and around Chicago, Ragano arrives most recently from his role as Executive Chef of Guildhall in Glencoe, IL. “The opportunity to oversee a restaurant that changes with the seasons is thrilling,” said Executive Chef Christian Ragano. “With the rooftop restaurant’s exposure to the sky and the elements, we will have the chance to constantly evolve with and explore all of the offerings of the Chicago seasons.”
A native of Queens in New York City, Ragano now considers himself a Chicagoan after having spent over a decade in the Chicago culinary community. During his tenure at NoMi Kitchen at Park Hyatt Chicago, Ragano rose through the ranks under Chef Sandro Gamba and was named Chef de Cuisine of NoMi under Chef Christophe David and Executive Sous Chef of The Park Hyatt Chicago. In the process, Ragano contributed to the restaurant’s earning of a Michelin star, as well as a three and a half star review from the Chicago Tribune. After his time at NoMi, Ragano served as Executive Chef of New York Central Restaurant at the Grand Hyatt before returning to his true home of Chicago to serve as Executive Chef of Guildhall in Glencoe, IL.
Ragano’s eclectic cooking style blends classic French training from the Culinary Institute of America with Italian and Spanish influences. Ragano draws inspiration for Cindy’s from the changing seasons encompassing Cindy’s. Ragano works with a vigorous passion to build creative, engaging menus that focus on the bounty of local farms, purveyors, and flavors of the Great Lakes region.
