Andrea Williams, Chef de Cuisine at ZED451, was born in Jacksonville, Florida. She attended Florida State University in Tallahassee for Criminology and Political Science, but quickly discovered her love of cooking for family and friends. She left FSU at the end of her Junior year to pursue Culinary Management at Florida State College in Jacksonville.
She’s worked for the Sawgrass Marriott Resort and Spa in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida and III Forks Prime Steak House in both Jacksonville and Chicago.
Her love of cooking was inspired by her mother, who taught her to use fresh herbs and vegetables from local farmers markets or straight from the garden. Her inspiration for new dishes often starts with one ingredient and develops from there. Her mother also introduced her to clean eating and organic foods at a young age, a habit she maintains.
Andrea is often asked what her favorite thing to cook is and she replies "It's more of a style. I start in the store with something that looks amazing and decide what to cook from there. Basically the no-plan plan. It drives my boyfriend nuts."
Andrea has been with Tavistock Restaurant Collection at ZED451 in the River North neighborhood of downtown Chicago since June 2014.
